Jaguar XKR-S Test Track Debut

Jaguar’s image has not been one that has fallen in favor with performance enthusiast since the Jaguar XJ220. However, with the now British owned company, Jaguar plans to change their image quite a bit. First, with the new and beautiful XKR-S. Next, with Jaguars hybrid Supercar the C-X75

The XKR-S is looking to remind people that Jaguar can still make amazing performance vehicles. Jaguar recently released a very convincing promo video, minus the cheesy theatrics. The Jaguar team decided to debut the new vehicle at Autodromo Algarve race track. An extremely difficult track however, as you can see the XKR-S seems incredibly comfortable. Along with the eargasm the XKR-S is quite the looker however, the added tidbits may not be everyone’s cup of tea. However, the XKR-S design director Ian Callum  insist the design is focused on performance:

The styling of this car isn’t about image, it’s about true performance. Like other iconic Jaguars before it, the styling has been driven by geometry and aerodynamics for genuine design purity. The physics required to achieve 300km/h have lead to the aesthetic; if you don’t like the way it looks, you probably won’t like the way it drives either.

Spoken like a boss if I may say so myself. While on the outside the XKR-S portrays a hardened supercar, the interior is quite luxurious as one would expect from Jaguar. The XKR-S weighs in around 3800lbs, which is quite impressive for a luxury car holding a supercharged V8. The engine cranks out 540 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque.

So please stay tuned here and watch as Jaguar makes a power play back into the sport car realm.
