2013 GTR takes on the Corvette in an epic shootout
So it looks like we won’t be getting the highly anticipated Mayweather versus Pacquiao bout anytime soon, big surprise right… But, here’s another title fight that’s just as interesting and the first punch has already been thrown – that’s the 2013 Nissan GTR versus the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition. Like Mayweather and Pacquiao these two contenders are polar opposites, the GTR being a turbocharged AWD that’s loaded with all sorts of fancy tech, while the Corvette is your quintessential NA RWD American-muscle car.
So who wins? It’s too early to declare victory for either car, but according to Insideline the 2012 Corvette has landed the first blow. They took both vehicles to the Streets of Willow Springs for a track day showdown in which the Corvette Z06 came out victorious. The Corvette’s best lap being a 1:22.7, while the 2013 Nissan GTR was just slightly behind with a time of 1:23.8. Surely, the Corvette’s new performance traction management system played a key role in dimensioning the inherent grip advantage that the GTR has with its advanced AWD electronics. Of course, we’re sure that this won’t be the last time that these two juggernauts square off, there will be many more track battles between the two in the future.
