The McLaren MP4-12C has landed in North America and oh what a sight it is. To commemorate its North American launch McLaren Automotive has released a video showcasing the MP4-12C’s arrival. The video starts off at the Port of Baltimore as the car is unloaded onto American soil for the first time, a well-welcomed British invasion. Once unloaded the MP4-12C takes to the streets, drawing attention in key markets for McLaren Automotive.
The McLaren MP4-12C in all of its 3.8-liter twin turbo V8 glory can be had for a base price of $229,000. McLaren plans to launch a new model or variant in the North American market each year, expanding its lineup and reaching new enthusiast audiences.
McLaren, known by most as due to the Mercedes McLaren SLS, known by the more well informed for producing one of the fastest production cars of all time, the McLaren F1 (In fact the McLaren F1 is still the fastest naturally aspirated production vehicle). All of this was influenced by McLaren’s racing heritage which is now named Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. Those in the market for a supercar in the range of $230,000 will be glad to know that racing heritage shows its true colors in the new McLaren MP4-12C.
With an estimated price of $230,000 to begin with, a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 rated at 592 hp, a lightweight carbon-fiber chassis, and a curb weight of 2,866 pounds, this car definitely has all the components of a true super car. With only a 1000 units set for production for 2011, please make sure you hurry and get one fast. Oh and try not to scratch the other few super cars you got in your garage as you pull this one in.
