2012 Nissan GTR Nurburgring Documentary

The 2012 Nissan GTR’s return to the Nurburgring has been documented in an excellent short-feature video, presented by GT Channel. By now the capabilities of the GTR are world renowned, but that hasn’t stopped Nissan from pushing the envelope even further. The GTR began its assault by posting a 7:38.54 in 2007, 7:29.03 in 2008, 7:26.70 in 2007, and now Godzilla has returned to the ‘ring yet again for what Nissan hopes to be a record breaking lap.

What’s easily noticeable in this video is the passion and competitive spirit that has gone into this entire project, specifically from the lead designer, Kazutoshi Mizuno. This is something that should not go without mention because it is a significant factor in designing a true sports car. It’s this type of drive and enthusiasm that makes a sports car special, and those same emotions are then able to trickle down to the consumers.

There are a lot of companies who have tried their hand in the sports car market to lure in younger buyers, but from my perspective there has to be more at stake. The manufactures who adopt such an approach are missing the point. However, Nissan along with a few other manufactures have hit the nail on the head.

Watch the video below to find out what makes the 2012 Nissan GTR tick, along with all the details on another amazing performance at the Nurburgring.
