Nissan GT-R to Make Another Attempt at Lap Record

Nissan GT-R Looking Beat its Previous Nurburgring Record

Nissan announced in an interview that they plan to set a new record with the 2014 Nissan GT-R at the famous Nurburgring race track in Germany. GT-R Chief Engineer Mizuno claims that the new GT-R can lap the track in 7 minutes and 18 seconds. The previous record set in 2009 by the GT-R was 7 minutes and 26 seconds and 7 minutes 24 seconds by the 2011 GT-R, check out this post for some GT-R Nurburgring history. Mizuno went a step further to say that he believes the the Nismo version, the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 can lap the track in under 7 minutes. However, Nissan will be using a production model GT-R, being that it is the model that is sold commercially.

A lap time around the Nurburgring in under 7 minutes is unheard of, and has only been done by the Radical SR8. One can only hope that they take the Nismo GT3 out to Germany to go through the paces as well.
